An English Tea Party

I know that it's been so long since I was on here! It's been a pretty crazy couple of works between studying, working, and birthday celebrations. I've had lots of fun, though, and I'm going to share a great little place with you: an English Tea Room in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Why? you ask. Well, this place is where I had my 19th birthday party just last week. I went with my mother, grandmother, and a few close friends. We had the "Windsor Tea": quiche; cucumber, salmon, and egg salad sandwiches; melt-in-your-mouth chocolate pie; Italian cream cake; apricot scones with apricot preserves and clotted cream, and of course pots and pots of tea! It was a meal I will not soon forget.

The English Tea Room is a small, independently-owned place run by Rob and Dawn Cork, with their son Luke. After they had served our party with all kinds of goodies, Mr. Cork acquiesced to our demands and provided entertainment in the form of his coming-to-America stories. The Corks came to America for the first time from Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England in 2008. Rob said that if all they had seen was New York City
they probably would have been more than happy to get out of the States and back home. However, they went on to visit some friends in Arkansas, and while there they stumbled upon the idyllic town of Siloam Springs. They fell in love and decided to live there.
Our fantastic hosts: Dawn and Rob Cork
The rest, as they say, is history. The Corks packed up and headed for the new world. They are thrilled with where they live now, and Rob said that if the English knew what the heartland of America is really like, we'd have a hard job keeping all the tourists out (that's why we Arkansans like to keep up the "Beverly Hillbillies" persona)!

Aren't we a lovely bunch of ladies?
The Corks' tea room uses only the finest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible and home-cooked on the premises. Over 30 Quiche Lorraines are lovingly prepared on the premises each week, and dozens upon dozens of scones--all served on china dinner services. The English Rea Room has a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, makeing it altogether a place to be spoilt for an hour or two.

  1. Thank you for the birthday wishes :)

Yes, Siloam Springs is actually about 65 miles from Eureka! If you like Eureka then you'd probably fall for Siloam as well.
