A Day to Celebrate!

OK, first order of business: National Punctuation Day. (I'm not kidding, check out the website) Yes, it is that time we've all been waiting for! The cool winds begin the blow, dusting the treetops with a mist of crimson and gold, gilding the fields with soft brown grasses...fallen leaves brushed by the breeze pirouette in forgotten spider webs, and before you know it, it's National Punctuation Day! Let's get that semicolon meatloaf in the oven and celebrate! And of course mourn the sacred memory of the thousands of innocent commas indiscriminately murdered every day on forums and blog sites everywhere. Ah yes, tradition is a wonderful thing.

Aside from that, the Rogers family is leaving for Tennessee tomorrow! Oh yeah, today Mom is washing every article of clothing in the house, Dad is tinkering with the Suburban, Aaron is corralling his snakes and getting ready to leave them for eleven days, and I'm running hither and thither, cleaning, packing, sorting, etc., etc., etc.... There's an air of haste and expectation in the air, and I can't wait to get on the road. Aaron is bringing his beloved laptop with him, so hopefully I'll be able to get an internet connection somewhere and be able to update you all.

Isn't this just the beauty of homeschooling? Instead of being in public school and letting my parents do all the work, I'm able to help them get on the road, not to mention the freedom of going on the road at all! Those poor little public schoolers, they don't really know what they're missing, while I get 11 days off to go on vacation. Alas, we cannot all be so fortunate.

Also, I would really appreciate it if everyone would leave comments and let me know what they want to see on this site. This is, after all, for you, and I want to give you what you want. You don't care to listen to what I've been blogging about? Tell me so! Also, vote on the poll at the right, I really want your opinions.

Later!
Abby Rogers

Sometimes I wish I could just take off. I usually have a hard time managing school with my other "life activities"...and its hard to see that "beauty of homeschooling". I guess I just need to find my rhythm and ability to balance. I'm sure I'll be so much more happy. But I enjoy reading about your life....and taking advice from another homeschooled teen. :)
