Here we are in Wear's Valley, Tennessee, nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains! We have rented the adorable cottage pictured at the right for four nights. It's called Lil' Apple Bear Cottage and is composed of one master bedroom with king size bed and jacuzzi, one roomy bathroom, a living room and kitchen/dining room combination. We've been having a wonderful time here, enjoying the marvelous scenery and hiking and shopping to our hearts' content.
Today I saw my first bear! Actually three bears, a mother and her two cubs. They were adorable little black bears and were only about fifteen to twenty feet away from us at one point. We have also hiked the Clingman's Dome, the highest point in the Smoky Mountains National Park, and driven around the scenic Cade's Cove loop.
Tomorrow we plan to visit the Biltmore Mansion; I'm really looking forward to that! For now we're settling down to eat dinner (made only with a microwave and hotplate!) and watch some tv, getting ready for another big day.
I'll be on the road for another week, updating you all on the sights and sounds along the way.
