My, What a Day!!!

Alright, I'm here again after an amazing Thanksgiving! Much of my family (uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents) all live in the same little town I live in, so we all get together every Thanksgiving at my grandparent's house. We had lunch at 2:00, and there was more food there than I could have thought possible! Three turkeys, two huge pans of stuffing, five cans of cranberry sauce, one bowl of purple marshmallow goo and one of green, tons of rolls, a gargantuan pan of sweet potatoes smothered in marshmallows, plenty of green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, salad, oh it went on and on and on. It's a mercy that the buffet counter didn't collapse under the weight! And the dessert table, ah, it was beyond description. Pies and cakes of every description: from German Chocolate Cake to Buttermilk Pie, to Sugar and Spice Eggnog Cake, to Pumpkin, Pecan, Coconut, and Strawberry Rhubarb pies, to cookies of multiple varieties, to pink goo, etc., etc., etc.. Needless to say, I was in a state of absolute bliss and ate way more than was good for me.

Granddaddy read the annual Thanksgiving Proclamation and we had a few people say what they were thankful for. We also had the traditional guys-against-girls-game-to-end-all-games of Trivial Pursuit, where the men always win and the women are usually good sports about it (hey, they didn't completely skunk us this year, just kinda). Then everyone broke up into smaller group games, sporadically nibbling off the buffet and dessert tables. After several hours and a rousing game of Family Feud (girls won that time, yay!) we started cleaning up and going home, thoroughly stuffed and happy.

So, how were your respective Thanksgiving Day celebrations? Tell me all about them, it would be interesting to see what everyone else was doing yesterday!

Tata for now,
Abby Rogers
